A professional journalist since 1985 and an Italian web pioneer, Turi gained his professional experience on major national newspapers and magazines, radio, TV and internet. In 1996 in Catania, he started Italy’s first online news service, Telecolor.
A member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs committee for the diffusion of Italian culture through new technologies (2002) and a specialist in digitalisation for the national journalists’ association (1999), for more than a decade he was manager of publishing, telecommunications and internet companies in Italy and abroad.
In 2013 he celebrated Mount Etna’s recognition as Unesco World Heritage site with the first iOS and Android App for Europe’s largest active volcano: iEtna.
He is passionate about meteorology, fungi, photography and volcanoes, and always looking for ways of making communication more effective, especially in emergency situations and for the prevention of natural and environmental risk.
He is Digital Champion of his home Comune, Giarre (Catania).
