Perullo-Nicola

I am a professor of Aesthetics, and I teach at the University of Gastronomic Sciences at Pollenzo, I’m also a temporary lecturer, guest lecturer and visiting professor at other universities in Italy and abroad (Palermo University, San Raffaele University of Rome, Holy Cross College and Florida Atlantic University in the United States).

I have worked with A.G.Gargani in Pisa, where I graduated and then obtained a PhD, and with J. Derrida in Paris, where I took several postgraduate courses.

The first phase of my research was concerned with the philosophy of ordinary language and Wittgenstein, deconstruction and Derrida, 18th century aesthetics and Vico.

During the second phase, I examined the issue of food, especially from the sensory and gustatory angle: the role of subjectivity in judgements, what constitutes expertise, the relationships between aesthetics and food ethics and the rapport between cooking and art.
