Carlo Massarini was born in La Spezia in 1952. His family soon moved to Canada, following his father Aldo Massarini, an officer in the Italian Navy and then Commander in Chief of the Italian Naval Assault Division. Returning to Rome, Carlo matriculated in the Faculty of Medicine but quickly abandoned his studies to devote himself to music and radio.
Since 10 January 2011 he has presented the Cool Tour programme, broadcast daily on Rai 5, which reports on all the latest trends in society and entertainment: web, cinema, art, fashion, dance, music and theatre. The programme is recorded at the premises at La Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, and focuses primarily on life and trends in that city. Since 16 January 2013 Carlo has presented the programme Cool Tour Classic Rock, broadcast on Rai 5 every Wednesday at midnight, which talks about the connections between the past, present and future of rock and other music. Since 21 January 2014 he has presented the show Ghiaccio Bollente, on Rai 5 Tuesday to Saturday at quarter past midnight. This is a space dedicated to music, which introduces the stations’s nighttime schedule of rock and pop music with concerts and music documentaries.
