Giampaolo Simi was born in Viareggio in 1965 and has written numerous works of fiction in the noir genre, such as Il corpo dell’Inglese (Einaudi Stile Libero, 2004) and Rosa Elettrica (Einaudi Stile Libero 2007). In recent years he has leaned towards suspense with an intimate psychological twist, with La notte alle mie spalle (2012) and the recently-released Cosa resta di noi, published by Sellerio and now in its third re-print after just a few months. Simi is one of the Italian authors published in France in Gallimard’s classic “Série Noire”, and is translated into German by Bertelsmann/Random House.
He wrote the screenplay for a TV movie based on his short story “Luce del Nord”, which was directed by Stefano Sollima for Raidue’s Crimini series, and was selected as one of the best works of European fiction in 2010 at the La Rochelle Festival in France. He has worked as a scriptwriter and screen writer for the TV series RIS (fifth season), and for all three seasons of RIS Roma. He contributes to the newspapers “Il Tirreno” e “la Repubblica”.
