Giovanni Boccia Artieri is a professor of Sociology of Digital Media and Internet Studies at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino and vice-director of the LaRiCA centre (Laboratory of Research into Advanced Communication) at the Department of Communication Sciences and Humanities.
He is course leader for the degree course in Information, Media and Advertising and coordinator of the Doctorate in Communication Sociology and the Science of Performance. He is national coordinator of the research project “Social relations and identity on the Web: Italian experiences and narratives on social network sites”. The project’s website is SNS Italia.
He studies social and cultural transformations in the social network society and participatory cultures.
Recent publications include: Gli effetti sociali del web (edited, Milan 2015), Stati di connessione. Pubblici, cittadini e consumatori nella (Social) Network Society (Milan 2012) and Facebook per genitori (Milan 2011).
He writes for Wired and TechEconomy.
